Reviews of the Best Sports Betting Sites in Ontario

The best sports betting sites in Ontario are great all-rounders. However, each sportsbook has its own quirks and specialist areas, so read on to learn more about them and decide which one you find the most appealing.

1. Bodog – No. 1 all-round Ontario sports betting site

Bodog 1 1

Bodog is the best sportsbook in Ontario right now. It launched in the province back in 2000, after Canadian entrepreneur Calvin Ayre set up the business. Bodog is arguably the most famous gambling brand in the country, with a reputation for bold promotions, secure payouts, a slick user experience, and attractive odds on a huge volume of sporting events.

This is a legit sportsbook that always pays out. It offers more bet types than any rivals. If you cannot find a bet, just tweet the team @BodogCA using #NameYourPlay or #BodogProps and they will price the market up for you. It offers low rollover requirements on promos, quick withdrawals, and 24/7 support too. Alongside the sportsbook, Bodog has Ontario’s busiest poker network, plus an online casino and racebook.

Pros:

  • Reputable brand that pays out on time
  • Low bonus rollover requirements
  • More betting markets than rivals
  • Busiest poker room in ON and great casino

Cons:

  • Some competitors offer higher betting limits
  • Larger welcome bonuses available elsewhere

2. Stake.com – Best Ontario sportsbook for crypto users

Stake.com Homepage

Stake.com is the best sportsbook in Ontario for live betting. It is the world’s leading crypto betting site, launched during the 2017 bull run for Bitcoin and various altcoins. It survived the subsequent downtown and increased its player base during the 2020-21 bull run, and Stake.com is still going strong, with new features and options added on a regular basis.

This is another impressive all-round sportsbook. Its sports betting platform is smooth and easy to use. It takes bets on a huge array of sports and events. There are large bonuses, instant payouts, lots of odds boosts, and very high betting limits. There is also a fantastic online casino, with progressive jackpot games offering large payouts, but it does not have a poker room or a racebook.

Pros:

  • World’s leading crypto betting site
  • The best sportsbook for live betting
  • Provides instant withdrawal
  • Very slick sports betting experience for desktop and mobile players

Cons:

  • Does not offer betting on horse races or poker tournaments
  • Bettor for crypto users than players using fiat currencies like CAD

3. BetOnline – Top ON sports betting site for NHL bettorsBetOnline

BetOnline is a popular online sports betting operator in Ontario. It has been active in the province since the 1990s, building up an enviable reputation among bettors. This is our top choice for hockey fans, as it offers reduced juice NHL lines. That means it operates on significantly lower margins than rivals, ensuring you receive better profits if you win.

We also recommend BetOnline for high rollers. It has a re-bet option, which means you can repeat any wager after 60 seconds, ad infinitum until you reach your preferred stake. Essentially, that ensures there are no upper betting limits. You can deposit up to $500,000 into your account using BTC, and it offers large payouts too. Withdrawals normally arrive on the same day via crypto.

Pros:

  • Reduced juice NHL betting lines
  • Re-bet feature for high rollers
  • Loads of free bets and risk-free bets for new users
  • Same-day payments if you win

Cons:

  • High rollover requirements on welcome bonus
  • Poker room is not as busy as Bodog’s

4. XBet – Our top choice for newcomers to sports betting in ON

XBet

XBet is a top-rated online sportsbook in Ontario. It has been in business since 2014, and many Ontarians know it as a trustworthy operator. If you are just starting out in the exciting world of online sports betting, we suggest paying this site a visit.

It is a lot simpler and more accessible than rival sportsbook sites in Ontario. That makes it ideal for beginners, as it is always easy to find betting markets and place wagers. The customer service is also excellent, which may appeal to newcomers. This is not the best option for advanced bettors seeking a plethora of features, but it is great for casual bettors. Its best features include a large array of props and low rollover requirements.

Pros:

  • Ideal sportsbook for beginners in Ontario
  • Very easy-to-use sports betting platform
  • Provides a large array of props
  • Generous promotions with low rollover requirements

Cons:

  • Software is a little basic compared to Stake.com and Bodog
  • Slower to release lines than BetOnline and Bodog

5. MyBookie – User-friendly Ontario online sportsbook

MyBookie Alberta Sports Betting Site

MyBookie is another user-friendly sports betting site, casino, and racebook for bettors in Ontario. It is a sister site to Ontario, offering an identical customer experience. You will notice that the sites look the same, albeit with a different colour scheme, and they cover all the same sports.

The odds and features are also identical. The only point of difference lies on the bonuses page. MyBookie has larger bonuses and greater choice, but XBet offers lower playthrough requirements. We decided to put XBet above its sister site in our list of the top Ontario sportsbooks, but they are both strong contenders. MyBookie also has an excellent loyalty program.

Pros:

  • Excellent desktop sports betting site
  • Brings a fun and light-hearted approach to online gambling
  • Huge volume of prop betting options available
  • Impressive choice of bonuses

Cons:

  • Higher rollover requirements than XBet
  • Slower to release betting lines than rivals

6. Everygame – Trustworthy online betting site for Ontario players

Everygame British Columbia Sports Betting Site

Everygame is an established online sportsbook that takes bets on a vast selection of games from around the world. It was originally named Intertops, and it took the world’s first online sports wager in January 1996, but the team rebranded it in 2021. A revamp of the site was well overdue, and it now ranks as one of the best Ontario sportsbooks online.

Prior to the revamp, it did not offer in-play betting, but the team fixed that issue, so players can now choose from a wide range of live markets. This site has a neat layout, and we like the features it provides, such as stats, picks, and insight. Bonuses include NFL pools, NBA leaderboard challenges, parlay boosts, and much more.

Pros:

  • World’s oldest sportsbook with a trusted reputation
  • Neat layout with valuable features
  • Interesting promos targeted at all users
  • Impressive worldwide sporting coverage

Cons:

  • Smaller sign-up bonus than most rivals
  • Could provide a broader range of props

7. BetNow – Very simple ON sports betting site

BetNow

BetNow is a no-frills sports betting site that makes wagering simple. You can sign up for an account in less than a minute, make an instant deposit, and start betting on all the major North American sports leagues. It is easy to withdraw your money if you win too.

Once again, this is not the best choice if you are looking for dazzling features and a huge selection of props on obscure sporting events. BetNow aims to make betting on major sports like football, hockey, basketball, and baseball as quick and easy as possible while providing competitive odds and bonuses. If that appeals to your sensibilities, check out BetNow today.

Pros:

  • Easy to sign up and make a deposit
  • Accessible sports betting platform
  • Provides quick, dependable payouts
  • Appealing initial deposit bonus

Cons:

  • Does not cover as many events as rival sportsbooks
  • Rivals provide more features

8. BUSR – Very simple ON sports betting site

BUSR Sportsbook Ontario Homepage

BUSR is a great option for Ontarians that want to bet on sports and casino games via a mobile device. The mobile site is quick, convenient, reliable, and accessible, so it is a great choice for anyone wagering on sports from a smartphone. There is a desktop site too, which is easy to use.

Alongside the huge welcome bonus, you can benefit from a range of ongoing promos. It has a competitive reload bonus, large rebates, and terrific contests. Recent offers include a $10,000 Grand Slam MLB contest, a $10,000 NFL handicapping contest, and a $500,000 Thanksgiving contest. It also offers no juice teasers at certain times of the year, which is very appealing.

Pros:

  • Very user-friendly and reliable mobile site
  • Offers a very competitive welcome bonus and re-up bonus
  • Runs regular contests for players
  • No juice teaser specials at certain times of the year

Cons:

  • Desktop site is a little dated and in need of a refresh
  • High rollover requirement on main welcome bonus

9. SportsBetting.ag – Large bonuses and rapid payouts in Ontario

Best betting sites in Alberta - Sportsbetting.ag

SportsBetting.ag falls under the BetOnline umbrella. The sites offer the same features, betting markets, limits, odds, and bonuses. To all intents and purposes, they offer the same customer experience.

The only noteworthy difference is the aesthetics. BetOnline was upgraded a couple of years back, resulting in a beautiful interface, with quick page loading times and an intuitive, accessible layout. SportsBetting.ag was not upgraded, and it now looks old-school by comparison. That said, old-school bettors may prefer the more text-heavy layout, so check them both out and see which one you like best.

Pros:

  • Large welcome bonus and lots of free bets
  • Reduced juice lines on NHL games
  • Ideal for high-stakes players
  • Quick, secure payments

Cons:

  • Old-school software that is overdue an upgrade
  • Fees on most deposits via fiat-based methods

10. PowBet – Top new sportsbook to launch in Ontario

PowBet

Many crypto users in Ontario were excited to check out PowBet when it was released in 2021. It is a high-quality betting site that follows in the footsteps of Stake.com, with an elegant interface, loads of features, and a focus on crypto betting. This is the best new sportsbook to launch in the province over the past few years, with sharp betting odds, a Power Squad feature, and impressive promotions.

Since launching, PowBet has behaved with utmost integrity, paying customers out with no reported issues. However, it is still new to the scene, and we want to see it establish a longer record of paying customers out before we will consider bumping it up our list. Yet it is nevertheless a promising online sportsbook for crypto users in Ontario, and PowBet should keep Stake.com on its toes.

Pros:

  • Provides hundreds of bet types on NHL games
  • Great live betting section
  • Pays out quickly to crypto wallets
  • Generous promotions for Ontario bettors

Cons:

  • Lacks a poker room and racebook
  • Still a newcomer building up its reputation in the province

Is Ontario Sports Betting Legal?

Ontario has a legal single-game sports betting industry. You can place online bets at a wide variety of websites and mobile apps, which are available anywhere in the province. Until recently, anyone interested in sports betting in Ontario had two options: place a parlay with three or more selections at PROLINE, which is run by the Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation, or visit an offshore sportsbook to place a single-game bet.

Parlays are difficult to land, as the house edge goes up each time you add a leg. Most bettors have always used offshore sportsbooks and stuck to single-game bets instead. Brands like Bodog, BetOnline, and XBet have built up impeccable reputations over many years, and Ontario sports bettors will find sharp odds, great promos, and quick payouts at them, which has helped their popularity endure.

There are now some locally-regulated sportsbooks in Ontario. Ottawa decided to amend the Canadian Criminal Code in 2021, allowing provinces and territories to create their own legal single-game sports betting markets. Ontario quickly took the plunge. However, many bettors have simply continued using the offshore sportsbooks they know and trust, as they tend to offer better odds and more betting options.

ON Sports Betting Laws Explained

The federal government passed the Safe & Regulated Sports Betting Act in 2021. It amended Section 207(4)(b) of the Canadian Criminal Code, which had stood since 1892, to remove the section that outlawed single-game sports betting. This brought about significant changes to Ontario:

  • The Ontario Lottery and Gaming Corporation could quickly add single-game sports betting at PROLINE+ and retail sportsbooks.
  • The Ontario government was permitted to introduce its own legal market for privately-owned sportsbooks.
  • Ontario now controls licensing, regulations, and taxation. Sportsbooks must pay a 20% tax on the revenues they earn.
  • There are no laws that would prevent bettors from using offshore sportsbooks. They tend to offer more betting markets, such as wagers on horse racing, so they remain popular in the province.

Single-Game Sports Betting in Ontario

Before the Safe & Regulated Sports Betting Act, only parlay bets were legal at locally-regulated Canadian sportsbooks like PROLINE+. Bettors had to combine three or more selections from separate games. For instance, you could bet on the Maple Leafs, the Senators, and the Canucks to win their games on the same evening, but you could not bet on just the Maple Leafs.

If one pick in a parlay is incorrect, the bet is graded as a loser. That makes parlays difficult, so most people prefer single-game betting. It was only possible at offshore sportsbooks prior to April 2021, but PROLINE+ was then permitted to accept single-game bets thanks to the Safe & Regulated Sports Betting Act. There are some local sportsbooks now too, but single-game sports betting at offshore sites remain popular.

Parlay Sports Betting In Ontario

Unlike single-game betting, parlay allows bettors to include two or more selections in one bet, increasing the odds and their potential payout. Because several odds combine to give the return, a parlay can earn one a massive win for a small wager.

That said, scoring a parlay bet isn’t easy, as each selection must be successful for a win. For instance, all teams in a three-team parlay must win for a bettor to earn winnings on this type of bet.

Ontarians are no strangers to parlay betting, as it has been legal in Canada for over 35 years. But online betting brings a new dimension to the bet type, with features like parlay free bets, odds boosts, and bonuses available. The best sports betting sites in Ontario offer parlay bets.

Props Sports Betting in Ontario

A prop bet is a type of wager on different aspects of a game that may not have any effect on the final outcome of the event. For instance, you can place a prop bet on Andrew Wiggins to make 5 or more three-pointers during an NBA game, Alphonso Davies to score a goal in the first five minutes of a soccer match, or even predict the length of the Super Bowl anthem.

Prop bets can be very exciting, and the best sports betting sites in Ontario offer a variety of props betting options, including player props, exotic props, game props, team props, and more. This bet type allows players to use their knowledge of individual players, teams, or events to earn winnings.

Futures Sports Betting In Ontario

Ontario players who prefer long-term bets can explore future sports betting, where they put their money on an event that will happen in the future. You can place a bet on a team to win the championship or a player to become the MVP.

With this bet type, you can win a sizeable payout from a small stake, as the odds tend to be very good. The best betting sites in Ontario allow players to place future bets throughout the season — during the preseason, regular season, and playoffs. And they adjust their odds in reaction to results, injuries, trades, etc.

Who can Legally Bet on Sports in ON?

You can place legal sports bets in Ontario if you are aged 19 or older. The Gaming Control Act of 1992 set that as the minimum legal age for all forms of gambling in Ontario, from sports betting to casino games.

Single-game wagering is now available anywhere in the province, so you can enjoy sports betting in Toronto, Ottawa, Hamilton, Kitchener, London, or anywhere else. When signing up for an account at a site or app offering online sports betting in Ontario, you may need to provide various details to prove your age. The registration process is laid out below.

Timeline Of Sports Betting In Ontario

2023: After one year of legal sports betting operations in Ontario, the province had registered 30 online sportsbooks. The Caesars Sportsbook at Caesars Windsor — Ontario’s first full-service retail sportsbook — was launched.

December 31, 2022: A total of 27 sports betting sites have been launched in Ontario.

August 30, 2022: iGamng Ontario releases its first quarterly reports, revealing a total of $4.1 billion in wagers by Ontario bettors since the April 4 launch. Also, the licensed operators earned $162 million in gross gaming revenues.

April 4, 2022: In January, iGaming Ontario announces its anticipated launch of the online sports betting and casino market by April 4. With everything going according to plan, Ontario becomes the first province to welcome commercial sportsbooks, with Caesars and BetMGM starting operations immediately.

2021: C-218 receives full House approval in April and passes the Senate in June. Sportsbooks like BetRivers, PointsBet, and DraftKings begin preparing for launch in Ontario as the province starts draft regulations for an open market.

2020: Kevin Waugh introduces Bill C-218 (The Safe and Regulated Sports Betting Act) in February to allow Canadian provinces to put their laws in place to provide single-game sports betting. Before this time, sports bets were compulsorily in the form of parlays.

2016: A second attempt to legalize single-game sports betting in Canada fails.

2012: C-290 fell through after passing the House but failing to get a vote in the Senate. The Senate doesn’t act on the legislation for years. Hence, sports betting remains prohibited in Canada.

2011: The first attempt to end the federal ban on single-game sports betting as Bill C-290 is presented to the House. Joe Comartin, proposing to amend the Criminal Code.

1992: In October, Ontario Lotteries and Gaming (OLG) officially launches ProLine.

Are Offshore Betting Sites Legal?

There are no federal or provincial laws that would prevent you from signing up with an offshore betting site in Ontario. These sportsbooks have welcomed players from the province for many years, and they have strong relationships with ON bettors. They are often collectively referred to as the “grey market,” because they do not fall under the jurisdiction of Canadian regulators, but there are no laws stopping you from using them.

Quebec once tried to stop residents from using offshore betting sites by passing a bill that would lead to an IP block. However, it was overruled by Quebec’s superior court, which ruled that bettors could continue using offshore sites. No province has tried to pass a similar bill since then, as it effectively set a nationwide precedent.

The best offshore sportsbooks are licensed and regulated within their jurisdictions. They have been operating for several decades, and they can be relied upon to pay customers out on winning bets.

Advantages of Offshore Betting Sites

You can benefit from several advantages if you use offshore betting sites as opposed to locally regulated sites such as PROLINE+:

  • It is cheaper to run sportsbooks offshore, as overheads are lower and tax regimes are more favorable. The best sites pass on a portion of those savings to their players through better odds and larger bonuses than locally regulated sites are able to offer.
  • There are more betting options available at offshore sites. For example, they can take bets on horse races, which is not possible at local sportsbooks in Ontario.
  • You can use cryptocurrencies for deposits and withdrawals at offshore betting sites. If you are into crypto, that is a clear advantage.
  • Locally regulated sites are ring-fenced in Ontario, so they can only accept players from the province. That means they struggle for liquidity when it comes to poker tournaments and progressive jackpot slots. Offshore sites can access a far broader player pool, resulting in far busier poker rooms and larger jackpots.
  • Offshore operators have been in the business for decades and they know what bettors want, so you can benefit from their expertise.

Do I Need to Pay Tax on Sports Betting in Ontario?

You do not need to pay tax on any profits you earn when betting on sports in Ontario. That rule applies to all recreational gamblers. A handful of professional gamblers must pay taxes on their winnings when they file a return, but that will only apply to a tiny minority of bettors.

What Are The Sports Betting Limitations in Ontario?

Although Bill C-218 legalized single-event betting in Canada in 2022, the bill had some limitations. For example, while sports bettors are allowed to place wagers on sports, political events, e-sports, and fights, there are some restrictions on betting on horse racing.

Canadians are mandated to make pari-mutuel bets when wagering on horse racing, where they bet against fellow gamblers wagering on the race rather than the house.

Other Types of Online Gambling in ON

Apart from sports betting, there are other ways for Ontarians to gamble, as the best sportsbooks offer several other iGaming opportunities for bettors, including e-sports, greyhounds, horse racing, virtual sports, and more.

DFS

Daily Fantasy Sports contests from companies like DraftKings and FanDuel are no longer available in Ontario. You could use those sites prior to 2022, but new regulations mean that all gambling activity must be ring-fenced in Ontario.

That means you can only compete in DFS contests, poker tournaments, progressive jackpot games, and so on with fellow Ontario residents. The DFS operators say that Ontario lacks the liquidity right now to run contests in the province. They have launched legal online sports betting and casino gaming in Ontario, so hopefully, DFS will return at some point

Other Sports

You can bet on around 30 sports at high-quality Ontario betting sites like Bodog and BetOnline. That ranges from Australian Rules, boxing, and cricket to volleyball, water polo, and winter sports. The leading Ontario sports betting companies take bets on hundreds of different leagues each day.

Types of Bet You Can Make at Online Sportsbooks in ON

Moneyline

This is the simplest and most straightforward bet type in sports betting. It is a wager on which player or team will win a game.

Point Spread

This bet type levels the playing field, as it serves as a handicap between two teams. Underdogs are given a plus sign (+) in front of the handicap, while the favorites get a minus sign (-). It’s a wager on a team to win and by how many points. Your bet wins if you ‘cover the spread.’

Totals

A bet on the combined score of both teams in a game and whether it’ll be over or under a line set by a sportsbook in Ontario.

Parlay

This wager combines multiple bets into a single bet, increasing the odds and a player’s potential payout. Parlays are quite tricky and difficult, as all your events must be successful to win the wager. Meanwhile, it’s a great bet type for earning a massive payout from a small stake.

Teaser

A form of parlay bet, teasers allow bettors to change the point spread for a game, increasing their chances of winning. In return, the sportsbook will lower their payout if they win. They’re most common in football betting.

Futures

This is a bet on an event that’ll happen or conclude in the future. Futures are most suitable for patient bettors, as it may take a long time to determine the outcome. For instance, you can place a future bet on the winner of the Super Bowl at the beginning of the season at the best betting sites in Ontario.

Live Betting with Ontario Sports Betting Sites

Live betting is available on thousands of sporting events each week at Ontario sportsbooks. You can bet on the moneyline, the over/under line, the puck line, point spread, run line, player props, and game props while the game is unravelling. Some Ontario sports betting sites also offer fast markets, whereby you can bet on what will happen in the next minute or five minutes.

Bonuses Available at ON Sports Betting Sites

Ontario sports betting promotions are offered to attract new customers. You will then receive further bonuses on a recurring basis in the long term. These are the main types of Ontario sports betting promotions to look out for:

Match Deposit Bonuses

Some sportsbooks will match a percentage of your first deposit with free bet credits. For example, you might receive a 100% bonus of up to $200 or a 50% bonus of up to $1,000. You always need to complete a rollover requirement on the free bet credits before you cash out your winnings.

Matched First Bet

Certain Ontario sports betting sites offer to match your first bet rather than your first deposit amount. For example, you could deposit $1,000 and wager $100, and you would then receive $100 in free bet credits. In that case, it pays to place a large first bet. There may be minimum odds requirements to hit.

No Deposit Bonuses

Some new Ontario sportsbooks may give out no deposit bonuses. You will get free bet credits, without having to risk your own cash. However, you will need to roll the credits over several times before withdrawing any profits. That allows you to test out an Ontario sports betting site and see if you would like to become a long-term customer.

Risk-Free Bets

Some sportsbooks will give you a rebate if your first bet loses. Sometimes the rebate will be paid in cash, but it is normally paid as free bet credits. You then have to complete a 1x rollover requirement on the credits before cashing out.

Ongoing Promotions

Sports betting sites in Canada offer various promotions to keep customers coming back regularly. They include odds boosts, parlay offers, leaderboard contests, free bets, and other incentives. Many of them also run loyalty programs, which give you reward credits when you place a bet. You can then redeem the reward credits for free bets.

Rollover Requirements

A rollover requirement is a common rule imposed by the best sports betting sites in Ontario, ensuring you place a bet before a bonus or free bet becomes eligible. It requires bettors to reach a minimum betting threshold before a bonus is granted or funds earned using bonus cash can be withdrawn.

For example, a sportsbook in Ontario may offer a $100 cash bonus and a 5x rollover. This implies that on depositing $100, you will receive a $100 bonus but won’t be allowed to withdraw any money from your deposit and bonus until you place a bet up to $1,000. This isn’t the only rollover type available, as each sportsbook has its own rules. Sometimes, the rollover is subject to specific odds requirements.

Payment Methods available at Ontario Betting Sites

There are lots of payment methods to choose from at the best Ontario sports betting sites. Deposits should show up instantly in your sportsbook account, and the best operators process withdrawals very quickly too, with no banking fees charged. These are the main methods:

eWallet Betting Options

Skrill, Neteller, ecoPayz, MuchBetter, and PayPal are available for deposits and withdrawals at some Ontario sports betting sites. They circumvent the need to type in card details on a web form, so they are considered quick and safe payment options.

Traditional Payment Methods

Debit cards, credit cards, and bank transfers are the most commonly available payment methods at Ontario sportsbooks. Visa, MasterCard, Interac, iDebit, Instadebit, and Trustly are often available for deposits, while you can withdraw to a Visa debit card or via methods such as Interac.

Crypto Betting Options

Cyrpto is a great option for funding an offshore sports betting site and receiving rapid withdrawals. It effortlessly crosses international borders, facilitating quick, secure, wallet-to-wallet transactions between a player and a sportsbook. You can often receive your winnings in less than an hour after making the withdrawal request if you choose crypto as your method, so it is typically the fastest payout option. Explore more about crypto betting in our guide.

Bitcoin is naturally the most commonly used cryptocurrency, while many players use Ether. However, we recommend considering altcoins that run on different blockchains to Bitcoin and Ethereum, as they often have far lower network fees. You can sometimes send large amounts of money for a fee of just a few cents. Your funds will typically convert to CAD when they arrive, and you can then convert them back to cryptocurrency when it is time to get paid out.

Ontario Sports Betting Apps & Mobile Sites

Some Ontario sports betting companies offer native mobile apps, which you can download by visiting the App Store or Google Play. You can take a look at the average user ratings they have received and download them in just a few seconds.

Alternatively, you can visit a mobile version of a sportsbook site, which should be optimized for a smaller smartphone screen. We highly recommend the mobile-optimized sites from Stake.com, Bodog, and BetOnline. Either way, you should enjoy a convenient and seamless mobile betting experience from anywhere in Ontario.

Loyalty Programs For Sports Betting In Ontario

As the name implies, this is a reward for loyalty. The best betting sites in Ontario offer certain perks to their loyal players based on the amount of time and money spent on their platform. Ontarians are familiar with this program as it is offered at most land-based casinos.

Bettors can receive points, tiers, prizes, cash back, enhanced odds, free bets, and other sports betting bonuses tailored to their favorite sports, to reward them for their loyalty to the brand. Even, some sportsbooks offer a VIP status for their most faithful players.

How ON Sports Betting Compares to its Neighbouring Provinces

Ontario has a far more open and competitive online sports betting market than its neighbouring provinces. There are lots of Ontario online sportsbooks competing for market share. That is great for the consumer because they must battle to offer the best odds and bonuses.

In Quebec, bettors can only use the government-owned Mise-o-jeu+ sportsbook site, as there are no locally-regulated, privately-owned sportsbooks. For that reason, most Quebecers use offshore sportsbooks to bet on their favorite leagues. In Manitoba, bettors can use the Manitoba Liquor and Lotteries Corporation’s PlayNow site, but offshore sportsbooks provide a far more compelling and exciting range of wagering options, so they dominate the market.

Top Ontario Sports Teams

Toronto, located in Ontario, is one of the cities with the biggest sports fan base, and you can be sure the millions of fans in the area will be keen on betting on their favorite teams. There are a couple of popular franchises in Ontario, and as such, single-game sports betting is massive in the province.

Here are some of the biggest sports teams in Ontario:

Toronto Maple Leafs

The most popular Canadian NHL team, the Toronto Maple Leafs, are arguably the most prominent name in Canadian pro sports. This side, coached by Sheldon Keefe, have won 13 Stanley Cups but failed to lift the trophy since 1967. Regardless, the Leafs are still one of the teams that attract the most bets in the NHL as they continue to seek an end to their championship drought.

Toronto Raptors

Having defeated the Golden State Warriors to clinch their first championship as recently as 2019, the Toronto Raptors are one of the top sides in Canadian basketball. Also, they have 7 division titles and a conference title in their trophy cabinet.

Although more Ontarians show greater interest in the NHL, a good number are developing a fondness for the Raptors and other NBA teams, thanks to their recent successes. So, expect plenty of bets coming in for the Toronto-based basketball side.

Toronto Blue Jays

The only Canadian team in the MLB, the Blue Jays, are pretty popular in the country, so they have a decent number of supporters. Also, given there are many MLB games in a season, Ontarians have plenty of betting options and chances with this team.

Ottawa Senators

The Maple Leafs may be the most followed Canadian NHL team, but the Ottawa Senators are just a little behind in terms of popularity in Ontario. You can expect streams of bets coming in for this hockey team as they seek their first Stanley Cup championship.

The Best Sports Betting Site in Ontario

We ultimately decided that Bodog is the best sportsbook in Ontario right now. Its proprietary technology is excellent, creating a high-quality online sports betting experience, and it provides a huge choice of betting options. We also like the attentiveness of the customer service and the user-friendly mobile site.

You will find some exciting Ontario sportsbook promotions if you visit Bodog. It also offers secure, quick withdrawals, along with the busiest poker room in the province, an online casino, and a racebook. It excels in many areas, so we have crowned Bodog the No. 1 overall sports betting site in Ontario.
